Well, sort of.My degree in Marketing did not prepare me for my two careers, Retail Management and Human Resources. However, the college experience did prepare me with — or should I say introduced me to — skills and concepts that have served me well over my entire work life.
College provided the basic process required to develop the abilities I have needed to research and evaluate ideas, proposals, concepts and people; and how to use those results in real world situations.
I believe that the business world is a dynamic and fast paced environment. It is constantly reacting and changing to meet the challenges of competition and other influences. The goal of a college degree should be to equip each student with a set of skills, basic tools and knowledge that will allow them to fit into and engage with an organization and learn what is required to be successful. — Blake
